Hazelize is Tasha Restrepo (she/her), a queer, bilingual, immigrant settler living on Unceded Coast Salish territory. A musician and drag performer, Hazelize creates in liminal spaces that resist neat definition while capturing audiences with infectious melodies and arresting stage presence. Her vocal range and untraditional ukulele tonalities subvert expectations in a musical landscape that views artists primarily through the lens of genres. Born of one South American parent, one North American parent and raised among White and Chicana/o communities, Hazelize stands at a crossroads of gender, nationality, race and sexuality, resisting the efforts of others to police and define those identities.
